Inclusive Team-Based Learning with InteDashboard

:bulb:Building on the discussion started by Brian, I thought I’d share additional insights from the participants of our recent Inclusive Team-Based Learning with InteDashboard workshop.

Karla Kubitz from Towson University shares one of her challenges with providing time-related accommodations. Since she does iRAT and tRAT in the same 50-minute class session, she typically has students who need time accommodations take their iRATs sometime before class starts.
Alternatively, Rebecca Greenblatt from SUNY Upstate shares that they give their accommodations students the iRAT at home the night before.
What strategies do you use to do iRAT for accommodation students in your classroom? Share your insights below!

When it comes to tRAT specifically, Julie Donnelly from University of Central Florida shares that using the attendance feature can be helpful in accommodating students during the tRAT. Students can participate with their team via text or FaceTime, but their team can make sure only the members who participated are marked “present.”
Have you experimented with accommodating students during the tRAT? We would love to hear any strategies you have to share!

Thanks for sharing! I typically accommodate students for the iRAT by having them complete a paper copy just before the start of the class session, that way they’re able to be present for the tRAT. We generally keep 5 or so paper copies on hand in case of any computer issues, so it’s not really much added workload for us to do this.

We didn’t have any requests for accommodations this past semester (at least not during the iRAT), so we haven’t used the accommodations feature in InteDashboard yet. We hope to use it the Spring semester!

As for the tRAT, most of the accommodations that we’ve seen apply to individual assessments, not team assessments. So we haven’t come across a situation where we’ve need to provide accommodations during the tRAT.

Appreciate you sharing this, Zac. Looking forward to potentially hearing how the InteDashboard accommodations feature has enhanced inclusivity in your classrooms next semester!
