TBL Team-Building – How Do You Help New Teams Bond?

Newly formed TBL teams need time to build trust, establish expectations, and learn how to work effectively together. Educators can support this in different ways, from structured team-building activities to giving students opportunities to make meaningful decisions together.

If you were starting a new TBL course and had just assigned students to their teams, which approach would you prioritise to help them build trust and cohesion early on?

Let your students:

  • Develop a team charter or team norms
  • Complete a traditional team-bonding or icebreaker activity
  • Discuss expectations for contribution and accountability
  • Practise giving and receiving peer feedback
  • Complete a challenging team application activity together
  • Co-create or negotiate elements of the grading system
  • Other (Share your approach in the comments)

Good morning, InteDashboard TBL Team,

I am waiting on my session for this fall semester.

Will update at the earliest possible time.

Thanks for the email and the rubric shared with us before starting the TBL.

I appreciate your work.

Yours sincerely
