I am Shreya Verma from the InteDashboard team. We’re thrilled to have you! Step into this friendly space and tell us your story. This is a place where you can meet fellow InteDashboard users and TBLers, exchange ideas, share thoughtful content and research, and forge connections.
Your journey begins with a warm welcome from us and your fellow team-based learning and InteDashboard enthusiasts.
We would like to know:
Your name, where you are based, and what you teach.
What you would like to learn in our community.
A fascinating fact that most people don’t know about you.
Hi, I am Brian O’Dwyer. I am currently based in Geneva Switzerland. My teaching was in Aviation Business (Airline Management, Airport Administration and Finance, and Aeronautical Science for Management).
I would like to learn how to support the adoption of TBL more widely. What are the challenges to adopting TBL and how to overcome them.
While building hours for my commercial pilot license, I flew a small four seat airplane from Chicago to the Bahamas.
I don’t currently teach, but I’m interested in understanding how TBL can be effectively implemented in adult learning for teams ranging from 10 to 30 members. I have limited knowledge of TBL and would greatly appreciate advice on how to gradually enhance my understanding of TBL over the next 12 months.
I am a cold-processed artisan soap maker who specialises in creating soaps for individuals with psoriasis-prone skin.
Hi - I’m Sandy Cook, recently (June 2022) retired from Duke-NUS medical school Singapore. I helped to set up the TBL infrastructure at Duke-NUS and am on the Board of Cognalearn, the parent company of Intedashboard. While in Singapore, I was eager to create a community of practice in the Asia Pacific area - since much of the current TBL activities are US and Europe centric. It has been challenging to find a means to engage TBL educators in this area to come together and share, learn, mentor, and have fun. I’m hoping this online version can be the start of such a platform.
Hi, I’m Henrika Florén. I work at the Karolinska Institute with educational development which mean I teach our staff. This included TBL training but also courses about assessment.
I would like to learn about and see knowledge sharing between teachers for all aspects of TBL.
Something you might not know about me is that I have a background in art and I love colours.
good question. Challenges vary from each individual, institution’s resources, time, and commitment. I think an additional question could be more direct - “What were YOUR challenges and how DID you overcome them?” I think learning from others strategies to implement might create creative ideas.
I use TBL for faculty/professional development all the time. It works really well and engages the adult learners. While 10 is a bit small - it is still possible with 2 teams of 5. 25-30 is ideal. To learn more about TBL - consider taking the fundamentals of TBL with Intedashboard or TBLC and if you begin to strive for the practitioner certification - you will be paired with a mentor who can guide you all along. I loved my trip to Korlinska around 2009 - I’m so happy that TBL is is still going strong. The TBL workshops are good places to share - Consider looking at the Annual meeting in March 2024 (Conferences - Team-Based Learning Collaborative) or if you want something unique - in February we are getting people together in Sydney Australia. The website is being adjusted, but if you are interested - let me know and I’ll send updated link.
Hi! I’m Zac Noel. I’m an associate professor at the University of North Carolina Eshelman School of Pharmacy. I started at UNC in September of this year, but for the prior 7 years I was at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy (which is where I cut my teeth on TBL!).
I think the benefit of a community like this is idea sharing & getting diverse perspectives. Unfortunately, I’ve found that communities like this such as the ones on the TBLC) aren’t always active… and over time become dormant. So, I’m hoping this will rekindle the fire, so to speak!
I’m not sure how fascinating it is, but I ran track/cross country in college. Currently, I’m training for my 6th marathon in April 2024.
Hi Zac - you are spot on. After a while engagment slows down or becomes dormant. It requires someone to proactively put up content/questions/provotive things to keep things moving. But, let’s see if we can re-kindle the fire and have someone stoking it regularly
I am RT Valderrama, and I am based in the Philippines.
I’m thrilled to join this forum dedicated to TBL! While not in a conventional teaching role, I’m enthusiastic about effective training, particularly in using tools such as InteDashboard.
In my spare time, I play basketball and I am an avid NBA fan. The teamwork dynamics inherent in basketball resonate deeply with the principles of TBL.
I’m keen to learn from this community, deepen my understanding of TBL methodologies, and explore ways to enhance training and educating.
Excited to collaborate, share insights, and improve training practices together!
I am Cynthia Ndeche , and I am currently based in Nigeria.
I’m happy to be here in a forum dedicated to learning more about TBL. Part of my personal goal is to learn about effective teaching methods with educational technological tools such as InteDashboard. I’m excited to be a part of this growing TBL community!
