Peer Instruction was pioneered by Harvard physicist Eric Mazur in the early 1990s to tackle low engagement and deepen conceptual understanding in large lectures (much like TBL!).
PI and TBL might look alike at first glance—students prepare before class, work together, and answer questions. But under the surface, they serve very different teaching objectives.
