I have been in conversations with our interprofessional education office – they have some major “pain points” with their existing IPE delivery methods. I walked them through TBL and InteDashboard today, and they were excited for future opportunities with it. I’m curious if others have used TBL & InteDashboard in IPE. If so, what were some challenges your faced? How did you approach funding, particularly for health professional schools that may not use InteDashboard within their own curriculum?
Always great to hear from you. We have had a few people use TBL in IPE. What sort of “pain points” were they having?
We have worked with a few IPE programs to make the budget more flexible. We would be interested in exploring something further as IPE is one area we are looking at. Some of the additional Peer Evaluation features that will be released this Spring were done with IPE in mind.
Thanks for the response, Brian! Many of the pain points relate to structure, process, and student buy-in & engagement. I’ve offered some suggestions related to design (e.g., using constrained choice; team formation; etc.). But I think that no matter how it is operationalized, when you’re dealing with 300 students across several health professional schools on Zoom the logistics are going to be challenging. I’ve made a pitch to use InteDashboard as a means to streamline processes, improve clarity on instructional activities, enhance feedback, etc.
The main barriers to implementation usually come back to funding (which I think we can get past) and “technology fatigue” I gave a demo to the interprofessional folks earlier this week and they LOVED it – we’re just trying to get buy-in from all the schools and then go from there. I figured in the interim I would see how others are using InteDashboard, considerations, etc.
Will let you know what becomes of the conversations! Thanks, Brian.
