I was speaking with an institution recently that has students do self reflections as part of the TBL process and wanted to see if it could be done within InteDashboard. I was wondering if:
Anyone does self reflections as part of the TBL process?
Does anyone have students do these with InteDashboard?
Would anyone find it useful to do student self reflections in InteDashboard?
Some do this as part of peer evaluation, but I haven’t heard of this too much for a stand alone self reflection.
Currently this can be done as a work around using:
a) Application activity type.
b) Create a free response question for students to self reflect on.
c) In step 4 optional settings uncheck the first box which is “This is a team-based activity” which means that students will do this individually.
Instructors can use the narrative feedback response feature to provide comments to individual students on their reflection.
Hi Brian,
I do self reflections after every application in Intedashboard. I give them 5 questions to answer - I really like using Intedashboard for it because I can see their answers as they write them. I actually use applications rather than peer evaluations, just setting it to be individual rather than team.
A dedicated reflection would be nice, but I’m not sure it would serve me better than the way I’m doing it.

Hi Brian,
I’ve done self-reflection as part of the TBL process using InteDashboard. I used one of your work-arounds. I created an Application Exercise that was essentially a ‘Minute Paper’. The question was something like… what was the most important thing you learned from today’s Application Exercise? Having a way to do self-reflection would be a good add to InteDashboard. Karla
Dido, Karla! I have previously done a “muddiest point”, where students do a 1-minute reflection on something that they’re still unclear about. I use the results to distribute follow up communication to the class as needed.
Brian, I’m not sure what additional features you would include with a self reflection activity in InteDashboard, but FWIW I feel like the existing method (ie, creating an individual application) works quite well.
